Daham Niketanaya has become the home for this rare gift from Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara. Sacred relics of Lord Buddha from this historical and world famous land Mahiyangana which happened to be the first place visited by Gautama Buddha when arrived in Sri Lanka. It was brought to Australia and presented to Daham Niketanaya by Chief incumbent and Trustee of Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara Venerable Urulewatte Dammarakkita Thero on Saturday the 22nd of February 2011.A procession including Kandyian dancers and drummers followed by the ceremony of presentation of sacred relics which was enshirined later in a little stupa in the presence of Cheif incumbent of Daham Niketanaya Ven. Santhindriya Thero and resident monk Makola Nanda Thero. A Large crowd of Buddhist and non Buddhist were gathered to witness this meritorias and rare event. Vesak Festival 2013
Vesak festival will be celebrated on the month of May 2013 at Daham Niketanaya with following activitiies including sil programs and display of Vesak Pandal.

Vesak Sil observation followed by other acitivities throughout the day followed by Atavisi Buddha Puja
A food fair will also be held throughout the Vesak period
